Being a PTC works for me, as it gives me a lifestyle blend of being balanced and active and having the Freedom to work when I want to work, and work around my families lives.

I’m able to work on a morning one day, and the evening on a next, meaning work revolves around my schedule and not the other way around. As well as allowing me to work around my clients, if they want a call at 9am, or 7pm, I can base my day around my working hours. It was an easy switch over for me working shifts between 9am and 9pm, Monday – Sunday in a store-based environment to putting my own hours in place.

With Hays being the Largest Independent Agency, we benefit from the best commission levels, and this for me is super rewarding knowing I’m doing the same work with the same tour operators, but being paid the most for my time.

It’s nice to know that it’s always going to be my business, but we have the backup of a full Head Office support team guiding our businesses to give us as much guidance as we desire; to get the best results; our operations team to look after our documents and having a full Customer Services team to look after my customers when I went to completely switch off and relax on my own holidays with my family, or one of the many educational opportunities we get at Hays Travel!

Since then, I have left the day job and work full time with Hays Travel.  No regrets never looked back.

I knew I wanted to see more of the world, and I was fortunate enough to get a job working onboard Cruise ships, where I was privileged to see many different places through-out the world. My favourite out of all of them is the Greek Islands.

After 10 years at sea and working my way up to being Guest Relations Manager, I decided I wanted my feet back on dry land. I came back to the UK and was a Manager of a Hays store, but due to Covid my store unfortunately closed.
I was given the opportunity to move to a different store, however due to the set working hours including weekends and long commutes to the store, I knew that working in the store wasn’t for me anymore, as I still wanted to see more places but I wanted to continue doing what I Love which is booking customers dream holidays, so I thought homeworking would give me the best work-life balance.

I have been with Hays PTCLS for over 2 years now and it has been amazing, I love being my own boss of my business, as I have more time to build a customer rapport and find the holiday that suites them best. I often receive lovely holiday pictures and messages to say how perfect their holiday has been, which makes my job all the better.

I can still travel and see new places, while building my business and best of all no more spending hours commuting to work (especially in the cold winter months) and now spend that time helping my customers.

I was nervous to start my homeworking journey as I had always worked in a busy environment and I thought I working on my own at home would be lonely, how wrong was I!! The help and support that is available has been amazing, whether its needing advice on an inquiry or a booking to non-ending training, there is always someone there to help you.
I have also built lovely friendships along my travel journey and I would honestly say it’s been the best career move for myself.

The team at Leads supported are amazing, Amy does a great job, nothing is too much trouble for her and is so approachable, and that goes for my BD coach Kerry Patterson, both of them especially have been there for me during my homeworking journey and without them and the rest of the team, I wouldn’t be where I am today as the encouragement that is given is fab to make you want to do better.

I love the opportunities for travel and being rewarded for sales I make.

Joining was the best decision I ever made.
